Call for Abstracts
We are happy to announce the third Edinburgh Journal Article Writing Week! We invite PhD students in LLC and HCA to participate. See below for more information on how to apply.
The point of EdJoWriWe is for LLC and HCA postgraduate students to convene for five days and work together on their journal articles and conference papers. Every day, EdJoWriWe participants will be provided with tea, coffee, snacks, and a delicious lunch to fuel their writing. They will also have the opportunity of hearing from experienced researchers on a variety of topics, such as selecting a target journal and tips for presenting at conferences.
We hope that this year’s event will live up to last year’s -- with some differences. This year, EdJoWriWe will be five days long. And while last year, EdJoWriWe focused on editing and ‘reader-focused prose’, this year we’ll be focusing on drafting and simply getting words down on paper!
EdJoWriWe 2016 will take place in 19 George Square, from Monday 23 May – Friday 27 May. Each day will run from 9am to 5pm, with optional social events on some evenings. Places will cost £20 per person. Please only apply if you can attend the entire programme from Monday to Friday.
We advise you to complete the bulk of the research for your article or conference paper before EdJoWriWe begins: be ready to write! You may also want to consult your supervisor before taking part.
If you are interested in taking part in EdJoWriWe, please send a brief abstract of your article or conference paper to [email protected] by Friday 22nd April 2015. The abstract should be no longer than 200 words, and should be in a .doc or .docx file headed with your name, school (LLC/HCA), and course of study.
